With a multilingual creative practice spanning decades, Kanji Patel published and edited the poetry journal ‘Vahi’, which nurtured many new voices in Gujarati literature as well as Indian literature at large. He has lent his expertise in Adivasi languages and cultures to editing Gujarat, Diu, Daman and Dadra Nagar Haveli volume of the People’s Linguistic Survey of India. He also started the Kaleshwari Mela in Gujarat to create a space for cultural expression for Adivasi, nomadic and de-notified communities.
